TouristAR: a 3D map of Madeira on the floor with photo panels of the Monte toboggans

The problem

Visitors plan a trip on their phones long before they arrive, and many places cannot show what makes them special in a photograph. Destinations, museums and heritage sites need a way to let people explore a place or an object in 3D, before the visit and at the site.

Built in Madeira

The island on your floor.

Its attractions on a 3D map you can walk around, and its sea on Apple Vision Pro.

Questions we hear

What have you built for tourism?

TouristAR, an immersive 3D map of Madeira's attractions starting with the Monte toboggans, and XperimentAR, interactive spatial video from under the sea on Apple Vision Pro.

Which devices does it run on?

In a headset, such as Apple Vision Pro, in the browser and in AR on a phone. Outside a headset, scenes open from a QR code at the site.

What do you need from us?

What you already have: plans, photographs, scans or objects from your collection or archive.

Can visitors use it at the site?

Yes. Objects and historic places open from a QR code beside them, on the visitor's own phone, with no app.
